Clear choices. Less to give away.

Your plate.
Your privacy.

You can be reachable without making your personal life public.

One profile. Your choice of what to share.

Your account has one personal profile, with or without a plate. Claiming several plates does not create additional profiles. Someone looking up a plate sees only that plate and its region unless you choose to publish more. Your email and other plates stay private. There is no public person-to-plate directory.

Your display name, short bio, and their visibility settings apply across all your current plates. Vehicle make, model, color, and their visibility settings are separate for each vehicle. Every optional field starts hidden, even if you fill it in. Your chosen plate appearance is public; it does not verify registration.

A transferred plate shows its new account owner’s personal choices and starts with fresh vehicle settings. It does not reveal the previous owner’s profile or other plates.

Your message history stays yours.

A new message addressed to a plate is delivered to the account holding its claim at that moment, regardless of who is driving. Messages to any of your claimed plates arrive in your one inbox. A later claimant does not inherit those messages. Messages cannot wait on an unclaimed plate and then become a future driver’s private history. Replies stay with the original account participants, including someone who has no plate.

Incoming notifications and widgets are designed around counts. A notification that cannot refresh the count falls back to a generic notice. Neither displays a message body, plate, person, or location.

Connection needs agreement.

Friendship requires a request and acceptance. A request alone does not grant location access. You can decline a request, remove a friend, or stop contact.

Stopping contact prevents new messages and requests between the accounts and ends any friendship and location sharing. Unblocking does not restore the previous relationship or sharing. Existing messages stay in your private history.

You can report a received message for private review. The report shares that message with an authorized reviewer; it does not open your entire inbox for browsing.

Two separate location controls.

Sharing with a friend

A friend sees your location only after you explicitly share with that accepted friend. You choose a duration and can stop sharing. The recipient sees when the shared location was captured, so an old point is not presented as live.

Removing or blocking the friend, stopping the share, or expiry ends that access. A plate change does not transfer your friendship or location permission to a new owner; an existing share remains with the same friend until it ends. Sharing with a friend does not automatically start private safety recording.

Private safety recording

Separate private safety recording requires a published policy, a clear device choice, and the necessary location permission.

It is not enabled in this development preview.

The product’s legal-access controls require a scoped subpoena or court-order case, authorized review, notices to the people involved, and an audit identifying access and release. Staff do not have a live location map to browse. Ordinary friendship never grants access to this trail.

Launch geography, retention periods, and legal-access notice terms are still being decided. They will be published before this feature is enabled for public use.

A claim review stays private.

If another person has claimed a plate you drive, you can submit a registration photo for review. Evidence is available to you and authorized reviewers. It is not added to your public profile.

A reviewer records the decision and reason, and the people involved receive account updates. Claims accommodate vehicles that are financed, leased, company-owned, or titled to a family member. A Platd decision determines the claim in Platd.

Where we are today.

Platd is in private development. This page explains the product controls. The formal privacy notice and the remaining retention and legal-notice terms are being prepared for public release.
